Dirtbikes are the perfect off-road platform for taking on the summertime trail, but what happens when that landscape turns into something a bit more frosty? It’s true that the two-wheeled platform wasn’t made with frozen locales in mind; but, thanks to Snowrider’s new all-encompassing kit, you’ll be able to turn your daily rider into a well-rounded, snow-faring machine.
The transition from a dirt bike’s off-road-ready orientation into something a bit more sledlike is certainly jarring, but we’d be lying if we said that it wasn’t an aesthetically-pleasing transformation. Snowrider’s bespoke kit offers a clean, intuitive blueprint for turning your motorcycle into a winter-ready variant, including things like a rear track, single ski, and adapters that have been tailored to each specific enduro model that the company supports. Better yet, the transition is easy and intuitive, taking less than an hour to complete in its entirety. Head to Snowrider’s website to pick up one of your own at an attractive price of $4,900+ — far less than it would cost for a full-fledged snowmobile this holiday season.
A TRACK SUSPENSION
The track chassis frame is made of structural-grade steel and duralumin. The chassis is equipped with YSS Shocks-brand shock absorbers with progressively wound, preload-adjustable and compression-decompression dampening-adjustable springs that let you tune the suspension for your weight and riding style – from aggressive leaps and U-turns to relaxed cruising. The MOTO650 track has shown especially good performance for mountain riding over deep and hard snow. The track is chain-activated via a reductor from the leading sprocket. The two-lever suspension provides optimal contact area profile for going over the deepest snowdrifts. Combination runners are made of light and strong I-section duralumin and can take on any loads when leaping or in case of running into an obstacle.
Snowrider snowbike kit can be fitted on any modern enduro or motocross dirtbike. Installing the Snowrider kit is easy, just take off the front wheel with the brake support and the rear arm with the wheel and shock absorber and replace them with the ski and track chassis. A set of adapters is included to help mount the set on your particular model. Conversion takes an hour at most and no special skills. Anyone who performs periodic maintenance of his motorcycle will be familiar with most of the steps. The kit also comes with a detailed manual on installation and use.
HI-IMPACT POLYMER SKI
The ski is manufactured in-house from hi-impact plastic, wear-resistant and excellently smooth. A central keel with two metallic cutters ensures steady motion. On the sides there are specially shaped metallic runners that keep the ski on its path in deep loose snow or hard packed snow. The ski is 280 mm broad and floats over the surface of the snow. A special narrowing design improves steerability of the snowbike and lets you enjoy your equipment in all sorts of conditions.
